Powerful Stories Open 2017 Campaign

Thank you to our Campaign for Jewish Needs Launch Event speakers! Sara Hurand, Cherie Dubyak, Howie Beigelman, Duby Rodman, and Noah Farrell shared their personal, powerful stories with over 400 community members in attendance. Watch their speeches here.

Sara Hurand of Shaker Heights is inspired by the ability of creativity and the arts to help us rise above our challenges and come together as one people. Hear about how the Federation, Mandel JCC, and the Jewish community rose up to help her and Rabbi Zachary Truboff start the Jewish Arts & Culture Lab, an artist fellowship that has worked with 50 artists and connected thousands more.   Donate Now

Cherie Dubyak of Pepper Pike is the child and grandchild of Holocaust survivors and they are her inspiration to lead a meaningful life as an advocate for Holocaust remembrance and against anti-Semitism. “Telling their story is telling my story,” she says. “We all deserve to be remembered.”   Donate Now

Howie Beigelman of Columbus is the Executive Director of OJC, supported by the Federation. He works across party lines to fight for critical causes like supporting Israel and combating the BDS Movement. Inspired by our ability to stand up for what we believe in and speak out for the causes we care about, Howie will share insight on today’s most pressing issues.   Donate Now

Duby Rodman of Beit Shean, Israel joins us in Cleveland from his hometown of Beit Shean, Israel – our sister city – where he leads the Federation-supported community development organization, Bridge to the Future. Duby previously worked in St. Petersburg, Russia – our other sister city – and will share how our global reach is changing the way people live and helping them lead better lives. He’ll be joined by our Mevashlot (chefs from Beit Shean)! Desserts at the Campaign for Jewish Needs Launch Event will be inspired by their recipes.

Noah Farrell of University Heights, a recent graduate of Fuchs Mizrachi School, describes himself as just a regular kid. As he puts it, “there are a lot of kids out there just like me.” But his inspirational story is one we don’t get to hear every day. Orphaned in his early teens, our Jewish community rallied around him and lifted him up when he needed us most.
