Description
Prior to the concert by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, author James A. Grymes (Violins of Hope) will be in conversation with Martin Goldsmith, well-known classical music radio host on NPR and Sirius XM, and author of The Inextinguishable Symphony and Alex’s Wake: A Voyage of Betrayal and a Journey of Remembrance. Grymes is also the curator of the "Violins of Hope Cleveland" exhibition currently at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage. Goldsmith is the son of Rosemary Goldsmith, a violist featured in the Maltz exhibition and a member of The Cleveland Orchestra, 1967-1981. Together, they will discuss parallel journeys that Jewish musicians made from Nazi Germany to join the ranks of orchestras in the United States and around the world.
